Robb got his passion for the business by home brewing. He home brewed to initially acquire rare and generally unavailable beer styles for personal consumption. After three years and hundreds of batches of experience, he decided to enter various amateur contests. To his surprise, every style he entered brought home a ribbon. His first stint in the industry was a small brewhouse at Huntington Beach’s Brewbakers. Showing his talents and enthusiasm, he was asked to join Bayhawk Ales, Orange County’s oldest microbrewery. It was there that Robb learned the business in a way that no classroom could ever teach. During his tenure, Bayhawk brought home numerous awards including a gold medal in the 2002 World Beer Cup, and several silver medals at the California State Fair. Although Robb had the opportunity to become Brewmaster at Bayhawk, he turned down the offer to join Alcatraz Brewing Company as their Brewmaster. It was here that he was able to give full expression to his brewing passion, embracing the art, rather than the science of beer. Award winning, handcrafted beer and ales brewed on the premises. 4 house ales, including Searchlight Golden Ale, Weiss Guy Wheat Beer, Pelican Pale, Big house Red Ale and our seasonal specialty: Marzen Lager and Doppel Bock Lager.
